Throughout the year, the Indian Ocean’s temperature doesn’t change much: it’s usually
around 20ºC. This relatively warm temperature allows the corals reefs to grow. There are corals
in all the oceans but only the tropical climate allows the possibility of corals to agglomerate and
build coral reefs. Due to the closeness to the Antarctic Ocean, the water temperature from the
South of the Indian Ocean is lower than previously mentioned temperature.
All about...
The Indian Ocean is the third largest ocean in the world. It’s bounded by Asia, Africa
and Oceania and it’s connected to the Antarctic and Pacific oceans. It’s generally accepted that
the origins of this ocean go back to the Mesozoic Era, as a result of the division of the super
continent Gondwana, which means that the Indian Ocean was the last one to be formed.

Monsoons?
is the climatological phenomenon
caused by the difference in temperature and pressure
of air from continental regions and the ocean. Although
occurs in other parts of the globe, it is in the south and southeast
asian that this climate has its most characteristic
significantly manifested.
The differences in the temperatures between the continents and the ocean originate
winds that change direction annually, according the temperature’s fluctuation. These winds can
cause droughts and floods in several regions.
